We called Pestco who had helped us
on a large job before and they only do encapsulation now.
We called Canady’s who went
out and looked. The guy was very nice
but said the only way that we could guarantee no moisture was a commercial dehumidifier (minimum of
$1,500) and sealing the crawl. Total
cost $3,200. The guy basically indicated that this may not be necessary but it
was the only thing they could recommend.
I called Gary Duncan with Coastal
Mold Prevention Inc. We have used Gary before for
a serious mold and
moisture issue and he
was able to give us a 20 year guarantee on the return of the
mold and encapsulate,
regrade, add gutters and commercial dehumidifiers on another house.
For this minor job, Gary removed
the area of light mold and treated it for minimal cost. He said it was one
of the best crawls he had seen and
this one area was just a little pocket that was not in the cross
ventilation. There was no guarantee with this job. He could have treated the
entire crawl for $1,000-$1,200 depending on the size
and is recommending this for new construction. Gary also has green products now. So long story short, I
would recommend Gary for big
and small jobs. Some of you might know him as a
builder as well who now is doing
mostly mold treatment and prevention.
